Purple people meet Nick Clegg

Andy May: This morning Take Back Parliament met with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to discuss the coalition’s plans on political reform.

We have heard lots of talk about a "new politics" from this government, but ultimately it will be measured not by its words but by actions.

That is why a date must now be set for a referendum on voting reform.

We took the opportunity to press Nick Clegg for an early referendum to allow voters the chance to be rid of the discredited first past the post system once and for all.

A referendum on the Alternative Vote is a small step in the right direction but we made it clear to the Deputy Prime Minister that this is only a first step and ultimately voters deserve the choice of a proportional system.
